Trainers

The shoe above is the Nike Air Max 360 Air U Breathe designed by Kevin Lyons. It's part of Nike's latest efforts to inflect more art into their product line, with Lyons, Ben Drury and Hitomi Yokoyama on board, Nike Air U Breathe. That feature is off Freshness btw.
I got this email from The Gloss advertising their new webshop, which is pretty well stocked with good stuff and this shoe being part of it. (They're this Swiss shop that also has a branch in Shanghai, of all places.) What caught my eye wasn't the pretty graphic applique alone but the fact that it was primarily, a trainer, which typically gets zero love in terms of artist collaboration.
Perhaps trainers are finally on the cusp of a comeback.

The Kevin Lyons one is quite hotness except for the fact that the red part is metallic-shiny-ish. Like a CD surface kinda. that one i seriously don't agree. :) Also the graphics gimme mcfetridge circa 2003 vibes. Which is not a bad thing but only if the Lyons version went more crazy with it; it seems "trendy" as it is. i also agree about the design not taking over the shoe and still leaving it intact as a sneaker.
In comparison then i prefer the Drury AM1 cos the main grey parts of the shoe are also 3M reflect-material and the rest just black with white swoosh and radiating concentric line circles on the heel inspired by pirate radio broadcasts. Aiyah i just like the 3M stuff being used on large pieces of the shoe. Oh and i think the accompanying runner's jacket is good sheet too.
I also dig the Adicolor series, cos of more hits than misses (and due to shear numbers probability). I dig the Pucci, Claude Clotsky scribble one, Pete Saville and TRON (which i have hoohaha...).
