PMKFA

PMKFA is Michael Thorsby, a Tokyo based Swede who mixes the best of Scandinavian minimalism, retro flair and the bleeding edge of contemporary style. His latest collection of shirts, It's Our Thing, in collaboration with printers Sweatshop Union is simply to die for. If you browse through his website, you'll be impressed by the depth of his work. From wall drawings to tees and logotypes, the lines are oh so crisp and clean that the detail on the prints and shirts really shows. The use of computers in graphic design is absolute today, yet Thorsby manages to sneak in a lot of handdrawn effects into the work, which gives a lovely human touch to it all.

Throughout his portfolio, Thorsby shows a definite love for playing around with perspective in his logotypes. Whilst this isn't necessarily new, his application of color and texture make it so. Combined with some Hip-hop references, 80s style layouts and a certain cutesy humour, his graphics make you feel like you time warped back to the future.  Check out this Pingmag interview which does a much better job than me, obviously.

Oh before I forget, you can order shirts from the latest collection by sending an email to itsourthing@pmkfa.com.
